The Cobargo Folk Festival, established in 1996, is a cherished event held annually in the picturesque town of Cobargo, New South Wales, Australia. This festival, renowned for its intimate and family-friendly atmosphere, is a celebration of folk and roots music, offering a blend of local, national, and international acts. The 2024 festival is scheduled to take place from March 1st to 3rd.
The festival’s mission is to foster and promote music and arts in the coastal region, particularly in the wake of the devastating fires of 2019/2020. It’s organized by the Yuin Folk Club Inc and run entirely by volunteers. The event also serves as a local fundraiser, with any profits used to support the following year’s festival, improve community facilities, and back music education and development in the region.
The festival features a diverse range of artists. For instance, the 2023 lineup included Kutcha Edwards, Eric Bogle, While and Matthews (ENG), Owen Campbell & The Cosmic People, Tony McManus (SCO), and many others, showcasing a wide array of talent in folk, roots, and acoustic music.
Camping is available for attendees, adding to the immersive experience of the festival. It takes place at the Cobargo Showground, which is conveniently located a short walk from Cobargo Village and within easy reach of local attractions and some of Australia’s best beaches.
