Vivid Sydney, an annual extravaganza, has captivated millions with its stunning light displays, electrifying music, and inspiring ideas since its inception in 2009. Founded by the New South Wales (NSW) Government’s Destination NSW agency, its mission was to showcase Sydney’s global creative hub and technological prowess. Over the years, it has grown exponentially in scale and popularity, drawing international acclaim.
We go most years and it does get pretty crowded, so plan ahead and book parking if coming by car, or preferably, utilise Sydney’s extensive public transport system. Also, it can get bit chilly so rug-up!
Vivid Sydney transforms iconic Sydney landmarks, including the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Customs House, Circular Quay, and the Royal Botanic Garden, into mesmerizing canvases for light installations.
Vivid Sydney celebrates creativity in all forms, fostering collaboration among artists, designers, musicians, and thinkers. It actively engages the community through inclusive, free, and ticketed events, promoting a sense of belonging. The festival showcases cutting-edge technology through interactive installations, boosting tourism and benefiting the local economy. The Drone shows in recent years are awesome.
Past Highlights Vivid Sydney has featured mesmerizing light installations, a diverse music lineup with past headliners like Björk and FKA twigs, thought-provoking discussions at Vivid Ideas, electrifying live music at Vivid Live, and a hub for networking and collaboration at the Vivid Ideas Exchange.
